Flower Remedies

Research has shown that an imbalanced emotional state and stress, weakens the immune system and negatively affects the glands that produce and regulate our hormones. Mental and emotional imbalances can create conditions that aggravate all body processes. By taking the appropriate flower essence or combination of essences, one can restore balance gently and subtly on emotional and physical levels. By restoring a healthy mood and balance to the mind, ones body and whole being can regain strength and enhance all other modalities being used to establish health and wellness

There are various kinds of flower remedies; Bach Flower Remedies are from England, Flower Essence Society Flowers are from North America, there are Australian Flower Essences, and many others. All of these are subtle but powerful in their balancing and soothing effects to our mood.

Homeopathic medicines also have powerful effects on balancing and restoring moods as well as mental and emotional well being by addressing each individual with their own unique set of presenting symptoms. These plant, mineral and animal diluted substances have been studied and used extensively in Europe since the early 1920’s. They have no secondary side effects and when prescribed precisely and accurately will act almost instantly or within minutes.

Brain Health

The brain is the central computer of the body, which monitors and regulates many body processes on an on going basis, some are run automatically and some require our conscious control and direction.

The brain requires three very important factors to function optimally, a regular supply of glucose (the only fuel and energy source it can use), which is delivered by our body through the breakdown of proteins, carbohydrates and fat. Oxygen is another vital requirement, without it, our brain will die in minutes, this is supplied by our red blood cells. Finally, stimulation is necessary for proper brain function and health, this stimulation is both external-reading, exercising, doing mathematical operations, engaging in artistic activities, learning new skills, etc.  There is also the need for internal stimulation- a balanced production of neurotransmitters, the brain monitors and integrates itself based on the amount and equilibrium of the various neurotransmitters; serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, and gaba. In the past two years, by going to seminars about brain health, I have come to understand that in order to best serve my patients overall wellness, I must assess and educate them about the importance of having a healthy brain. This is a very substantial part of my practice and via a brain health questionnaire and specialized supplements designed to restore the balance of neurotransmitters, I can provide a service that is a healthy alternative to the plethora of medical drugs for depression, anxiety, memory challenges, and so many of the other mental disorders plaguing our culture.

Self Help Techniques

Techniques like EFT, teach you self-help strategies to help neutralize anxiety, fear, and post-traumatic stress in a few minutes. It is no longer necessary to go to the therapist for months or years to resolve day to day emotional challenges.

Thought Field Therapy is another self-help modality that can address momentary and daily emotional distress.

Below are some of the books, and therapeutic supplements, flower essences, and homeopathy I recommend to achieve better moods and address emotional distress.
